🇬🇷 Athens' Beaches: As Beautiful as the South of France!

On my second day in Athens, I couldn’t wait to head to the South Coast – my favorite area in the city, yet sadly overlooked on Chinese platforms. While many criticize Athens for being "shabby," the South Coast proves how unfairly the city is judged. Let’s talk about the South Coast: This is Athens' most international and well-maintained coastal zone, home to diplomats, expats, and affluent families. Here, you’ll find the cleanest beaches, the bluest waters, and the most luxurious beach clubs and seaside cafés. Coastal neighborhoods like Glyfada, Voula, and Saronida are absolutely worth a visit. When I took these photos, the weather shifted between sun and clouds – but even under overcast skies, the sea remained brilliantly blue. If you can’t make it to the Greek islands, spending a day or two here is totally worth it. Here are some cafés and coastal towns I visited (accessible by bus – check my profile for a detailed South Coast bus guide!): 🏖️ Riviera Coast By day, it’s a café; by night, a fine-dining spot. Its outdoor deck stretches over the water – sipping coffee here with sapphire-blue waves beneath your feet feels like pure bliss ☕️💎. If it’s too sunny, the indoor lounge is equally cozy. 🚌 Location: Take bus A1 from central Athens to the final stop, then walk back 300m. 💰 Prices: Coffee €3-5, pasta €17-20 (authentic and delicious). Slightly pricier than other parts of Athens. 🏖️ DOT Beach Vibes A chic beach club right on Voula Beach. Clean sand, plenty of sunbeds – perfect for brunch and a full day of relaxation. With Athens' great weather lately, it’s already drawing crowds! 🚌 Location: Take bus A1 or tram T7 to Voula Beach (stop: Βουλα). 💰 Prices: Coffee €3, fresh juice €6, pizza €13-15. 🏖️ Saronida A picturesque coastal town ~30km from Athens. White houses nestled among olive trees, quiet blue benches under shaded pathways 🌿. In early May, it was nearly tourist-free – only locals enjoying paddleboarding and windsurfing. 🚌 Location: Take bus A1 to the end, then transfer to bus 122 (total travel time: ~1.5 hours). #GreekTravel #Athens #EuropeTravel #HiddenGems #SoloFemaleTravel #TravelTheWorld 🌍✈️🌊
