As an arts student, I’ve always dreamed of Athens! The off-season is perfect for visiting – prices are similar to China, the food is amazing, and the weather is sunny and pleasant. 🏨 Accommodation Heard the northern area might be less safe, so we chose the InterContinental Hotel in the slightly southern part of the city center. It’s the only 5-star hotel with rooms over 30㎡, and the price is similar to China. Great location and transportation! ✈️ Transportation Super fast customs – no questions asked! 🛃 24-hour airport buses right outside the terminal – super convenient and direct to downtown (~€5). Stay near Syntagma Square for easy access to Uber (prices like China’s tier-1 cities) and the metro (though airport trains run every 40 mins). 🏛️ Attractions Most famous sites are under maintenance (started 8 years ago…). Only 3 areas are worth visiting, all within walking distance: 1️⃣ Acropolis: UNESCO World Heritage Site 🏛️ – see the Parthenon and Odeon of Herodes Atticus. 2️⃣ Temple of Olympian Zeus: A must for Greek mythology fans! ⚡ 3️⃣ Monastiraki Square: Full of shops and a flea market – perfect for soaking up the taverna vibe. 🍷 🐙 Food Street-side tavernas are even more atmospheric than Shanghai’s 1️⃣ Karamanlidika: My favorite! Free citrus Greek yogurt, spiced beef, and black truffle fried rice. 🍊 2️⃣ Opos Palia: Packed with locals – grilled octopus, eggplant dip, and shrimp are must-tries. 🐙 3️⃣ Zonar’s: Rooftop bar with stunning Acropolis views. 🍹 4️⃣ Fresko: Highly-rated Greek yogurt chain. 🥛 5️⃣ Any kebab or pita spot – all delicious! 🌯 6️⃣ Rooftop bars near Monastiraki – amazing views at China-friendly prices. 🏙️ You might expect classical philosophy, but Athens is covered in graffiti like Camden; you might expect decay, but the tavernas are full of charm. #TravelGuide #Greece #Athens #AthensFood #AthensTips ✨🏛️🍷
