Opos Palia is a recent discovery for me, despite my numerous visits to Athens. This charming restaurant offers a taste of traditional Greek cuisine with a delightful selection of seafood dishes. During my visit, I had the pleasure of savoring grilled octopus, fried calamari, and, of course, the classic moussaka. The staff at Opos Palia were exceptionally kind and helpful, adding to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend visiting with friends and indulging in a variety of dishes to share. The portions are quite generous, making sharing not only enjoyable but practical as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is truly memorable, with the hustle and bustle of the street and the presence of local patrons transporting you to a different world altogether. What's more, the prices at Opos Palia are incredibly reasonable, often at least 50% lower than those at restaurants offering views of the Acropolis. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Opos Palia and will certainly revisit when I return to Athens. It's a hidden gem that promises delicious food, a welcoming ambiance, and excellent value for money.

Stumbled upon this while trying to find our way to another restaurant. Was captivated by all those sumptuous looking dishes and decided to have a go. Am glad our choice turned out well and easy on the wallet. Menu doesn’t have pictures so best to scan through other reviews. Tried a couple of their recommendations and food was delicious. I personally loved the grilled vegetables salad which has a lovely balsamic vinaigrette. The grilled squid was juicy. The pork steak is nice when eaten warm. Else gets a little dry when cold. The zucchini balls are stuffed with cheese so may not suit those who doesn’t take as much cheese. We ordered both the fried shrimps and anchovies as we couldn’t decide which is better. Both are crunchy even when cold but a little oily. Overall dining was good. Service is mediocre as restaurant is super packed. Payment takes a while so expect to wait. The meal costed 50euro with the dishes we ordered. Decent!

We arrived at 19:45 and placed our order by 20:07 with drinks arrived at the same time. The first dish (eggplant salad) arrived at 20:09, followed by dolmades & fries at 20:14 and the grilled octopus (which was overcooked) at 20:19. By 20:45, our last dish - grilled chicken was yet to arrive so we requested that to be cancelled. An older staff, angrily informed us that “pork takes 8 mins to cook, and chicken takes 14 mins”. We told him it’s been over 35 mins now and we have already finished everything. He angrily stomped off and told us we couldn’t cancel. My partner then went up to the bar in the attempt to speak to another staff which he was ignored by every single member of staff, with the older staff telling him that “we are not magicians” after we repeated that we had been waiting for 40 mins at this point. 2 mins later, the grilled chicken magically was served, despite him telling us it takes “14mins to cook”. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody based on how rude the staff treated their customers, and a couple other tables also raised about the forgotten dishes but somehow managed to be served right away as soon as it’s been raised, even though they “are not magicians”. There are many more nice restaurants 2 mins along the road or a street behind this restaurant.

Avoid this place! We were one of the "victims" of the arrogant, rude and unkind waitress (with glasses) with an attitude. We waited half an hour for anyone to take our order (but it is January 1st and they appologised they are full and we did understand, of course, that was not the issue). When we finally wanted to order, almost 70-80% of the menu was gone (in that case close the place, don't offer less for a full price!). So, we ordered "sheep patties with potatoes and yoghurt", and the only thing we got were 2 very dry sheep patties without potatoes and yoghurt. When I told the waitress with glasses that this isn't what we ordered and what the menu said, she showed her 'gorgeous' attitude by arguing with me in a way: "What, you didn't get the full meal and now what do you want? A discount of 2 €?" The debate ended here, because I didn't want to continue arguing with such an arrogant person. Anyway the place looks like a dirty garage and the food is very average. There are better taverns in Athens worth of your money and time.
