πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· Greece | 2-Day Athens Travel Guide πŸ›οΈβœ¨

Athens is a perfect city for urban exploring β€” its neighborhoods are compact and vibrant, ideal for solo travelers who love to walk and discover. I spent two amazing days here with my travel buddy, and it was truly fulfilling! 🎟️ 1. Acropolis Tickets Buy your tickets online a day or a few days in advance! The on-site queues can be endless, especially on sunny days β˜€οΈ. Get the Acropolis & Slopes combo for €30 β€” that’s all you need. 🏟️ 2. Panathenaic Stadium (Olympic Site) You can buy tickets on-site β€” it’s not too crowded. πŸŽ“ UK students: Don’t forget your student ID for a 50% discount (€5)! This is where the first modern Olympics were held. It may be smaller than today’s stadiums, but it’s absolutely impressive! 🍽️ 3. Food Recommendations πŸ₯› Stani – Century-old yogurt shop Great for brunch before visiting the Acropolis. We tried: Cow yogurt / Sheep yogurt with walnut & honey 🍯 Rice pudding & bread Can’t handle sour yogurt? Go for cow yogurt. Sheep yogurt is tangier but balanced perfectly with honey and walnuts β€” highly recommended! πŸ₯› Fresko Greek Yogurt Located at the foot of the Acropolis β€” a popular chain. It was okay, similar to yogurt in the UK, and takeaway only. I’d still recommend Stani over this. πŸ₯— Atitamos – Authentic Greek cuisine Three of us ate for just over €50. Four generous dishes β€” very filling! ⭐ Must-order: Greek salad & moussaka (eggplant lasagna). The shrimp was also full of flavor! 🍳 Ashui Breakfast For those craving Chinese food while abroad! πŸ˜‹ This spot stands out even in Europe. We had: A basket of soup dumplings A meat bun Soy milk & a tea egg All for just over €5! Tasted just like home β€” please open in the UK soon! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡· 4. Changing of the Guard @ Syntagma Square Held daily, but the most elaborate ceremony is on Sunday around 11 AM. The square gets packed β€” arrive 10–15 minutes early. ⚠️ Don’t stand right in the middle β€” police will move you to the sides. It’s crowded but totally worth it! 🚌 5. Transport & Accommodation From the airport: Take Bus X95 (easy to find) β†’ Syntagma Square, €5.50, ~1 hour. To the airport: I took the metro (€9), but not all trains go to the airport β€” I had to wait 20 mins mid-route. βœ… Bus is more reliable. 🏠 Accommodation: I stayed at Bedbox Hostel β€” a 10-min walk from Syntagma Square. Great for solo travelers: clean, friendly staff, and free luggage storage after checkout. #GreeceTravel #Athens #TravelGuide #SoloTravel #GreekFood #AthensTips
