A very intense experience on Greek customer service etiquette, but with good ice cream!
The pomegranate yogurt ice cream is awesome but the service is kind of scary-rude (especially for a meek Canadian who perhaps is not used to Greek yelling etiquette?)
It was really hot so we went to get some yogurt desserts, the workers kept yelling at us to stop and be careful (presumably because they mopped recently?) which sounds considerate but is kind of scary when they're glaring at you while still gesturing you in as you look around trying to figure out what you're doing wrong.
The elderly man ahead of us tried to say back that he was partly deaf and couldn't hear but they just kept simultaneously yelling at him to stop! Be careful! While also gesturing him to walk in.
My boyfriend was too alarmed to walk into the store and hovered outside so I went in to try to order.
The worker sternly told me this is my last ice cream sample when I asked to try a second flavour (presumably it's one each since I was with my bf?) I didn't want to get yelled at again so I panic-ordered the pomegranate yogurt ice cream.
Luckily it was delicious! (Though I'm still a little scared of the ice cream ladies. Hopefully there are nicer ice cream sellers in Athens or I might have to just collapse from heat stroke on hot sunny...
Read moreReally average and deceptive pricing.
I asked about a medium yoghurt which, by itself, was €4, and apparently €0.50-0.80 for toppings. I was then told I can get a set option which apparently included toppings, so I went for something which pictured fresh fig and granola for €5.30. They just put granola on and asked me what fruit I'd like... I didn't see fig so thought I'd have to pick an alternative and just got strawberries. I was then charged €5.80 and the till and told that was because the strawberries were €0.50 extra. So it seems the fresh fruit pictured was imaginary. I couldn't be bothered arguing the point so just said it wasn't clear and paid anyway.
It was so average. The granola was stale and the strawberries were average. Honestly, go to any shop, buy the ingredients separately then throw it all in the same pot, and you will probably still only spend half and have something much better which isn't misleading.
It's a small amount of money so whatever, but that doesn't mean I don't hate businesses like this. I'm pretty confident the locals don't bother...
Read moreWe were a group of five and decided to take a coffee and ice cream break for the kiddies in our group.
My daughter wanted to try between two flavours to decide. She did and chose. My son also chose an ice cream. I also ordered a couple ice coffees and another ice cream for one of the adults. After two mins I decided I wanted an ice cream and wanted to try one flavour to make my choice. The lady behind the counter said it was a 2 flavour per person policy and that I had already tried two flavours. I pointed out the coffees and ice creams we had already bought and that the she saw my daughter trying out the ice cream. She did not care. I said ok fair enough your loss I don’t need to buy anything else from here.
Honestly the ice coffees were weak in flavour and ice creams very average. They were quite soft and melting quick unless you took the sorbet like one in our group. When it’s pushing 38+ degrees though you don’t care about the quality as much you just want the relief.
Anyway good luck to this place, they’ll need it with...
