🇬🇸 Athens Will Punish Anyone Who Doesn’t Plan Ahead! 😤
Before going to Greece, I had higher expectations for Zakynthos than Athens — I even thought Athens might be boring. But after exploring and eating my way through the city, it totally blew me away 🥹 🍽️ EAT 1️⃣ Street Souvlaki Local grilled skewers — so delicious I ate here three days in a row! Super affordable. ⭐ Must-try: Chicken skewers & kebabs — way better than London’s! 2️⃣ Opos Palia Grilled sea bass, squid, and giant shrimp — all amazing. Personally liked it more than that other famous "A" seafood spot. 3️⃣ Fresko Yogurt A Greek yogurt chain — hard to go wrong with any order. Tastes just like the ones in London… but cheaper 😆 4️⃣ Share Wish Bubble Tea Located near the first souvlaki spot — beats all bubble tea & fruit tea I’ve tried in the UK! 5️⃣ Stani A classic Greek yogurt shop! Note: the traditional yogurt is made from goat’s milk (distinct flavor). If that’s not your thing, go for cow yogurt — also delicious! 🏨 STAY / 🚇 TRANSPORT Athens is super walkable — stay near Syntagma Square to reach most famous sights on foot. From the airport, take the metro (€9, valid 90 min). Within the city, metro tickets cost €1.20 (also valid 90 min). 🎉 PLAY 1️⃣ Two Stunning Sunset Spots & Rooftops Lycabettus Hill Viewing Area: €10 round-trip cable car — go early to grab a good spot! Philopappos Hill Panorama A for Athens Rooftop: Walk-ins welcome, beautiful window views 🍹 2️⃣ Must-Visit Attractions Acropolis: Book timed tickets in advance. Avoid large bags (storage required). Panathenaic Stadium Syntagma Square Changing of the Guard: Adorably unique marching style Acropolis Museum: Though the most famous artifacts are… at the British Museum 😅 Athens streets are so chill — wandering through small shops and casual eateries is pure joy. It’s sunny almost every day ☀️ — a T-shirt + light jacket is enough. I wish I could stay in Southern Europe forever! #Athens #Acropolis #Greece #GreekFood #GreekTravel #AthensTravel #UKStudentLife
