🇺🇸 Bay Area Eats|Unexpected Korean Food in Monterey
Whenever I visited Monterey before, I always ended up at Old Fishermen’s Grotto 🦞. This time, I felt like something different and found a Korean spot — New Korean Restaurant — and decided to give it a try! 👉 Braised Pork Hock (Jokbal) We ordered the small size for $39.99, but the portion was huge — easily enough for four people! 🐷🍖 It included both pork hock and knuckles, served at room temperature. You can order fresh lettuce 🥬 to wrap it — so flavorful! 👉 Beef Soup (Seolleongtang) The broth was rich and comforting — really delicious! 😋 The only downside was that the beef was a bit tough. 🥩 👉 Blood Sausage & Pork Soup (Sundae Guk) As someone from Northeast China, I was excited to see blood sausage on the menu — felt like home! The soup itself was hearty, but the blood sausage was different than I expected 🫢 It was mostly filled with glass noodles and just a little pork blood. The texture and taste were a bit unusual for me — not really my thing. 💰 Prices are similar to Korean restaurants in the South Bay. Aside from the blood sausage, the other dishes were tasty! I saw many tables ordering BBQ 🍖 and bibimbap 🍚 — everything looked and smelled amazing. Definitely willing to come back and try those! 📍 Address: 300-D Carmel Ave, Marina, CA 93933 #Foodie #BayAreaFood #BayAreaEats #Monterey #KoreanFood #MontereyEats
