πΊπΈ Chicago's Cyberpunk Himalayas in a Tadao Ando Masterpiece ποΈπ
Just caught the must-see exhibition at Wrightwood 659 before it changes on Feb 15! πββοΈπ¨ The main show features contemporary Himalayan art curated by NYC's Rubin Museum. ποΈπ¨ 28 artists present mind-blowing paintings/installations/sculptures/films exploring Himalayan themes. Each piece dialogues with Rubin's historical artifacts β past meets future in this stunning "Cyber Qu Yuan" style exhibition. π€πΌοΈ Don't miss the daily 15-minute staff talks highlighting select works! π£οΈβ¨ My favorites: β’ LU Yang's "DOKU The Self" (30-min film watched twice!) β a cyber-being's Buddhist awakening. No spoilers, but the technical mastery and philosophical depth left me speechless. ππ€― β’ John Akomfrah's Venice Biennale piece (missed due to tech issues but got a raincheck!) exploring African elephants and human-nature relationships. ππ The Tadao Ando-designed space itself is art! βοΈπ’ One of only three Ando structures in Chicago (along with a Lincoln Park house and the Art Institute's gallery). Raw concrete meets heavenly light β pure architectural poetry. β¨π #AestheticLiving #TadaoAndo #CyberpunkArt #ChicagoArt #SciFiVibes #HiddenChicago #HimalayanArt #ArchitectureAsMusic
