🇺🇸 Hiking Mount Scott | Oklahoma 🏞️⛰️
My ideal weekend life! Mount Scott is located in southwestern Oklahoma, part of the Wichita Mountains, with an elevation of 751 meters. It’s a distinctive rocky mountain 🪨. Climbing Mount Scott isn’t exactly wild hiking—the path to the top is paved with cement, about 3 miles long. What makes it interesting are the diverse rock formations, some over 500 million years old! The rocks are covered with moss in different colors, resembling ink wash paintings 🎨. It’s amazing how powerful nature is! As you climb higher, you can see two lakes nearby 💙. Under the blue sky, the lake surfaces shine brilliantly, with speedboats leaving long white trails behind them. Due to the extreme heat, starting June 26, 2024, hiking and cycling on Mount Scott are only allowed from sunrise to 10:00 AM ☀️. Hikers must descend by 12:00 PM, as vehicles and cyclists are permitted entry in the afternoon. It can be risky for pedestrians to share the road after that. We drove from Norman, which took a little over an hour. The round-trip hike was under three hours—slower pace with kids 👨👩👧. We saw some people running up and down the mountain—so cool! 🏃♂️💨 The scenery along the way was beautiful all throughout. It takes about an hour to reach the summit. Although the top is relatively flat, the endless vast plains of Oklahoma are still breathtaking 🌾🤯. Next time, we plan to drive there in the afternoon to catch the sunset 🌅—I bet it will be stunning! #AmericanLife #Oklahoma #Outdoors
