🇺🇸 Monterey Chinese Food | Jim’s Chinese Restaurant

A truly timeless spot — this classic Chinese restaurant has stood strong in this tourist town for 24 years 🏮⏳ Tucked in a small space, it’s always busy… and it might just be the only Chinese restaurant in Monterey! The owner is from Taishan, Guangdong, and made his way to this beautiful coastal city 🌊✈️ I’ve visited Monterey many times, but this was my first time trying Jim’s — mainly because it’s the closest spot to the Monterey Bay Aquarium 🐠 The walls are covered with menus and accolades 🏆 — including “Top 100 Chinese Restaurant” awards from 2007 and 2008. Yes, the place is old and a bit worn, but don’t be fooled: the utensils are clean, and the flavors are solid 👌 The owner kindly gifted us a plate of fried pork chops — tasty! 🥩 We also tried: West Lake Beef Soup 🥣: Delicious, though could use more ingredients — we finished it in seconds! Kung Pao Chicken 🌶️: Looks… interesting (not the prettiest), but the taste redeemed it — tender chicken, well-seasoned. 4/5 stars! Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings 🍗: Just okay. Came with noodles since it was a “combo.” Orange Chicken 🍊: Too sweet for the kids — probably a Western favorite. Shrimp Fried Rice 🍤: Average. Overall: 3.5/5 If you’re craving Chinese food in Monterey, it’s worth a try — but not sure I’d rush back. 📍 Jim’s Chinese Restaurant 👨👩👧👦 A family-run piece of Monterey history #Monterey #MontereyEats #MontereyBayAquarium #ChineseFood #TravelFood #Highway1Eats #CarmelByTheSea
