Day 1 We arrived in DC under slightly cloudy skies โ๏ธ, but the air was fresh and pleasant. Stayed near Capitol Hill โ super convenient, with most attractions within walking distance. ๐ U.S. Capitol The exterior alone is breathtaking ๐ โ that iconic white dome is a must-see. Pro tip: Book tours in advance! We couldnโt get in but still enjoyed the lawns and statues around. ๐ Library of Congress Absolutely gorgeous! ๐ฒ Like a European palace โ every corner is photo-worthy. Spent about 30-60 mins here. Quiet, elegant, and inspiring. ๐ Supreme Court Just a short walk from the library. The grand stairs make a great photo spot ๐๏ธ. Security is strict โ bags scanned, walk-through metal detectors. ๐ National Air and Space Museum A HIGHLIGHT! ๐โ๏ธ Perfect for kids and adults alike โ real planes, rockets, simulatorsโฆ all free! We booked same-day morning slots for afternoon entry. Spent almost 3 hours there! ๐ Washington Monument at night We saw it lit up from afar โ solemn and majestic. Didnโt go up (too tired + crowds), but the view was still magical. Day 2 We started early to โsee the Presidentโ ๐ ๐ The White House You can only view it from behind fences, but itโs still a classic photo op ๐ธ. Lots of police and security โ didnโt stay long, but the vibes were respectful. ๐ Lincoln Memorial A bit of a walk ๐ถ, but worth it. The statue of Lincoln is powerful and solemn. Reading the Gettysburg Address carved on the wall was moving. The Reflecting Pool with the Washington Monument in the distance = PERFECT shot. ๐ Vietnam & Korean War Memorials Located nearby. Quiet and reflective โ not really for photos, but deeply meaningful. ๐ฝ๏ธ Lunch in Georgetown Cute, European-style neighborhood ๐งฑโ โ full of cafรฉs and boutiques. Great for a slow stroll. ๐ผ๏ธ National Gallery of Art Free entry + masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Picassoโฆ ๐ The grand hall and soft lighting make it a calming experience. No rush โ just art. โ Recommendations: ๐ Wear comfortable shoes! Distances are deceiving โ youโll walk a lot. ๐ฑ Book museum slots online early (Smithsonians are free but require reservation). ๐จ Stay near National Mall to save time. ๐ธ Best photo spot: Lincoln Memorial + Reflecting Pool at sunset ๐ Washington isnโt a โloudโ city โ itโs calm, dignified, and deeply American.
