148 Years of Tradition in Smørrebrød💯
★ If you’re in Copenhagen, a must-try is the open-faced sandwich from Restaurant Schønnemann. This restaurant is one of the oldest and most representative traditional Danish lunch spots in Copenhagen, with a history dating back 148 years to 1877.🌟 ★ The menu offers a wide variety of options, primarily focusing on Smørrebrød, which is typically topped with pickled herring, smoked eel, roast beef, boiled shrimp, eggs, and avocado. The most classic dish is definitely the “Stjerneskud.”🍴 I ordered a sandwich with Greenland shrimp and pickled herring🧾: ⦿ GREENLAND SHRIMPS in PYRAMIDE 🦐 This classic open-faced sandwich features a generous pile of Arctic shrimp, forming a small mountain of shrimp. Visually, it’s natural and quite striking. The shrimp are Arctic, with a sweet and tender texture, perfectly complemented by lemon and dill for a refreshing taste. The amount of shrimp is substantial; one could easily get full just from eating the shrimp alone, making the bread beneath almost unnecessary. ⦿ Smørrebrød med karrysild 🐟 The herring curry is also one of their classic dishes. The curry sauce is Danish-style, milder than typical curries, with a slight tang and a hint of sweetness. The texture is smooth, and the herring is a revelation—rich in flavor, with a fatty and textured mouthfeel. The combination of the two is rich and layered. However, it was quite cold, as it’s a seasonal dish, but I managed to finish it despite the chill. Although the restaurant is known for its seemingly simple smørrebrød, these sandwiches are not casually assembled. From the pickling of the ingredients, the proportion of the toppings, to the pairing with spirits, everything is carefully considered. Each bite carries the tradition of Nordic cuisine. Coupled with its century-old history since its opening in 1877, every table holds the flavor of history. 『Restaurant Schønnemann』 ↘︎ Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:30-17:00 ↘︎ Address: Hauser Pl. 16, 1127 København, Denmark #Copenhagen #Denmark #DanishSmørrebrød #DanishCuisine #CopenhagenFood
