๐จ A Good Hotel โ But Could Be Even Better! ๐
This hotel is quite nice overall. While it may not be the most modern property, our room was beautiful and well-maintained. To secure a suite, I used my IHG Confirmed Suite Upgrade 14 days before check-in โ and as a nice surprise, they even upgraded us further (thanks to IHG Diamond status) to an even nicer suite with two full bathrooms! ๐๐ Itโs rare to find such a spacious suite at this price point in Chicago, so major kudos for that! ๐ The breakfast offered a great variety โ both buffet-style and a creative ร la carte menu with lots of delicious Latin-inspired dishes that kept things interesting ๐ฎ๐ณ. And the location? Absolutely perfect โ right on the Magnificent Mile! ๐๏ธ๐ That said, in my opinion, there were a few small letdowns that held it back from being excellent: Most InterContinental brands, especially in city locations, include a club lounge. The fact that IC Chicago doesnโt have one is a downside. One of the IHG Diamond benefits is complimentary breakfast. While the hotel does provide the breakfast โfree,โ they still charge a 20% service fee ๐ธ โ which feels a bit like a loophole. Technically, they can say the food is free, but from a guest's perspective, it doesnโt align with how other hotels (within IHG or other chains) handle this benefit. I didnโt complain or make a fuss โ overall, I was happy with the stay and didnโt mind paying a little extra. But itโs easy to imagine some guests feeling frustrated. It might not be worth the negative impression it creates. All in all, I do recommend this hotel, but itโs not the best value in town โ which is why Iโm giving it a 4/5. Still a very good stay, just with room to grow! ๐ #InterContinentalChicago #IHGDiamond #HotelReview #MagnificentMile #SuiteUpgrade
