🏨 A Good Hotel – But Could Be Even Better! 🌟
This hotel is quite nice overall. While it may not be the most modern property, our room was beautiful and well-maintained. To secure a suite, I used my IHG Confirmed Suite Upgrade 14 days before check-in — and as a nice surprise, they even upgraded us further (thanks to IHG Diamond status) to an even nicer suite with two full bathrooms! 🛁🛁 It’s rare to find such a spacious suite at this price point in Chicago, so major kudos for that! 🙌 The breakfast offered a great variety — both buffet-style and a creative à la carte menu with lots of delicious Latin-inspired dishes that kept things interesting 🌮🍳. And the location? Absolutely perfect — right on the Magnificent Mile! 🛍️🌆 That said, in my opinion, there were a few small letdowns that held it back from being excellent: Most InterContinental brands, especially in city locations, include a club lounge. The fact that IC Chicago doesn’t have one is a downside. One of the IHG Diamond benefits is complimentary breakfast. While the hotel does provide the breakfast “free,” they still charge a 20% service fee 💸 — which feels a bit like a loophole. Technically, they can say the food is free, but from a guest's perspective, it doesn’t align with how other hotels (within IHG or other chains) handle this benefit. I didn’t complain or make a fuss — overall, I was happy with the stay and didn’t mind paying a little extra. But it’s easy to imagine some guests feeling frustrated. It might not be worth the negative impression it creates. All in all, I do recommend this hotel, but it’s not the best value in town — which is why I’m giving it a 4/5. Still a very good stay, just with room to grow! 📈 #InterContinentalChicago #IHGDiamond #HotelReview #MagnificentMile #SuiteUpgrade
