A Hidden Gem on Lake Michigan | Beaver Island
Today, I want to introduce you to a niche summer travel spot—Beaver Island, the largest island on Lake Michigan. You can take a 2-hour ferry from Charlevoix, Michigan. A one-way ticket costs around $30 per person, and you can return the same day with no reservation needed. Alternatively, you can choose to fly there. 🌊 Stunning Natural Scenery The island is covered with vast forests 🌲, and crystal-clear turquoise Lake Michigan waters are visible everywhere 🌊—they glisten brilliantly under the sun. There are also groups of duck families 🦆 wandering around, creating a scenery so beautiful it’s intoxicating 😍. I recommend visiting the lakeside beaches; you can hike and stroll along the coast. If you stay overnight, you’ll also get to admire the starry sky. 🏛 Rich Cultural & Historical Heritage Beaver Island has a long history. Long ago, Indigenous peoples from multiple nations lived on the island 🧑🌾, leaving behind unique cultural traces. Later, Europeans arrived and established colonies here, making the island’s culture even more diverse. Today, you can still see some ancient architectural relics on the island—they quietly tell stories of the past 📜, making you feel as if you’ve traveled back in time. I recommend visiting the Print House Museum and the Toy Museum (unfortunately, the Toy Museum was closed during my visit this time), the Maritime Museum, as well as the local library, church, school, and tool shop—all worth a look. There are also university teams conducting archaeological work on the island. With its beautiful scenery and pleasant atmosphere, Beaver Island is perfect for a day trip or a two-day getaway. On the island, you can choose to hike or rent a bicycle to get around. #Michigan #BeaverIsland #MichiganTravel #HiddenGetaway #SummerTravel
