A Hidden Spanish Gem in Chicago's Lakeview 🍷✨

Finally visited the Bib Gourmand spot near my place this weekend — last time I was here was years ago when they first earned the award. Honestly, this might be the most authentic Spanish tapas restaurant in Chicago! Unlike some trendy “white people food” spots that leave you feeling greasy and thirsty, this place makes you feel like you’re in a cozy seaside tavern on the Mediterranean coast 🏖️🇪🇸. The restaurant is tucked away in a charming semi-basement space — rustic, warm, and full of character. ✅ Drinks Their cocktails are refreshing, tangy, and slightly sweet. Of course, you can’t miss the Sangria — plus they have a full wine list 🍹. ✅ Appetizers Smoked Trout Roe Potato Pavé – Could easily eat a whole plate myself 😋. Seared Foie Gras – Served on little toasts with a subtly sweet jam — lighter than expected and perfect one-bite deliciousness. Seasonal Special Hamachi Crudo (forgot to snap a pic!) – Bright and tangy with kiwi — super refreshing. ✅ Medium-Sized Dishes Charred Broccoli – First time trying warm green olives! Paired with whipped chèvre and roasted dates — feels like a dish I’d try to recreate at home 🥦✨. Croquettas de Pollo – Classic crispy fried cheese balls, but here they’re mostly chicken and gooey melted cheese inside — not starchy or heavy at all. ✅ Mains Roasted Capellini with Smoked Pork and Seafood – Opening the pot released smoky, almost duck-like aromas 🍜. The capellini was thin and chewy, almost like rice noodles. The saffron cream sauce was flavorful but not overly rich. ✅ Desserts Pistachio Crème Brûlée – Nutty, fragrant, and not too sweet — the highest praise from a Chinese dessert critic 😉. (Was tempted by the Basque cheesecake but saving it for next time — you can even order a whole cake to-go! 🍰) Their menu changes with the seasons, so you can come back often without getting bored. #Michelin #BibGourmand #ChicagoEats #SpanishFood #TapasLove #WeekendEats #ChicagoLife
