A Must-Try Korean Spot in Chicago‼️
The BEST 곱창 (Gopchang) in the Chicago area! One gripe I’ve had with American Korean food is that it’s often too sweet — but this place is authentic, delicious, and perfectly balanced. Since I posted about it on Instagram last year, so many friends have asked for the details and have gone back multiple times — all raving about it! My first time here was with a friend who used to come often when she studied here. She told me the restaurant is run by a Korean auntie — who actually remembered her even after years away! Auntie is usually in the shop, super warm and attentive — like a neighbor’s mom 💕. The staff grill everything for you, so you just sit back and enjoy. ✨✨✨✨ Ordering Guide ✨✨✨✨ 🧡 Beef Bulgogi Dinner Thin, fresh slices (not frozen forever). Served with finely shredded scallions and onions — wrap it up and dip in Auntie’s homemade sauce. No gamey taste at all, super appetizing. 🧡 Grilled Beef Intestines (Gopchang) Order at least two servings — you can mix large and small intestines. Cleaned perfectly, grilled until the fat renders out — chewy, flavorful, and not greasy. Served with chives — an unexpectedly amazing combo! 🧡 Seafood Tofu Soup Shrimp, clams, oysters, silken tofu — so comforting and addictive. A big bowl that easily serves 3–4. 🧡 Cold Noodles (Naengmyeon) Generous portion, refreshing and lightly sweet. Thin slices of crisp Asian pear, and the broth is divine — perfect with grilled meat. 🧡 Fried Rice Ask Auntie to turn your leftover BBQ into fried rice! Mixed with banchan, secret sauce, and lots of seaweed flakes — cooked in a hot stone bowl for crispy bottom bits. A must-try! 🧡 Chilled Makgeolli (Rice Wine) Tried it here and now I buy it at Hmart regularly! Fragrant, smooth, and not too heavy — just right for a light buzz. Complimentary cold water or hot tea. Banchan is solid — not overly sweet like some places (looking at you, San Soo Gab San). Auntie is super sweet — she even packed up extras for us to take home. 🌟 Hwang Soh Grill 황소 그릴 📍 5819 Dempster St, Morton Grove, IL 60053 ⏰ Weekdays: 4 PM–10 PM | Weekends: 3 PM–10 PM #LocalGem #KoreanFood #HiddenGem #WhatToEatThisWeekend #ChicagoEats #ChicagoLife
