A New Chicago Steakhouse Landmark? | A Carnivore's Delight ๐ฅฉโจ
Visited a relatively new steakhouse over the weekend โ Trino. ๐ 738 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661 Led by chef Stephen Sandoval and two partners, this spot reimagines the classic steakhouse, blending flavors from Northern Mexico, Galicia, and Argentina to craft a modern take on "meat romance." We lucked out and got seated on the high-backed sofa area โ perfect for people-watching and soaking in the atmosphere. ๐ฝ Starters The staff recommended two must-tries: Cangrejo Tostada and Lamb Empanadas. We rock-paper-scissored and went with the crab tostada. Light and refreshing with pistachio crunch and Asian pear crispness, though the coconut flavor was faint. Small but beautifully plated. ๐ฅฉ Mains We ordered two different steaks: ๐ฎ Picanha โPrime Ribโ โ their signature cut. ๐ฎ Ribeye Dry-Aged โ our favorite. Both ordered medium-red (leaning rare). Honestly, I wasnโt blown away by the famous Prime Rib โ needed sauce to shine, though tender and thin-cut. The Ribeye was the star ๐ โ richly flavored, beautifully marbled, perfectly cooked, and delicious even without sauce. Oddly though, sauces here are ร la carte โ not common for a steakhouse! ๐ณ For The Table We tried the Duck Fat Re-Fried Beans with salsa verde. This side was mind-blowing! ๐ Creamy, flavorful, layered with richness from the duck fat and zing from the salsa. We scraped the dish clean. ๐ฐ Dessert Tres Leches Tiramisu โ a rich, milky version, not the light kind. Unique and decadent! Overall, great ambiance, solid steaks, standout sides โ feels perfect for a date night ๐. Service was attentive with water refills, though they were very quick with the check at the end ๐ . #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #SteakLovers #SteakhouseGoals #ChicagoFoodFinds
