A Regrettable Visit to a New Cha Chaan Teng in Duluth 😤
Recently tried a newly opened cha chaan teng in Duluth—and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. 😓 Here’s my honest take: 🍚 Combo Rice I ordered this to-go and ate it in the car. The rice was cold and hard—clearly not freshly prepared. Texture was off, and it lacked that comforting warmth you expect from a rice plate. ❄️🍚 🐷 Crispy Roast Pork The skin was extremely hard—almost dangerously crispy—to the point where it felt like biting into a rock. 🦷💥 Even as someone who grew up with Cantonese roast meats, I found it completely bland—missing that signature savory, aromatic flavor. 🦆 Roast Duck This was disappointing on multiple levels. The skin wasn’t separated from the meat (no air-puffing step before roasting), so it came out chewy and fatty rather than crispy. Even putting technique aside, the duck itself was shockingly flavorless—no depth, no saltiness, no roast aroma. 🦆😔 🍜 Rice Noodle Roll I went there excited for their cheung fun, but it was worse than most dim sum spots. The noodles were thick, sticky, and lumpy, with bubbles in the wrapper—a sign of poor steaming. They provided only a tiny amount of sauce (two ounces for the whole box), so by the end, I was just eating oily, bland rice rolls. 🫤💦 🍴 Service Note For half a duck, an order of cheung fun, and a combo rice, they only gave one set of utensils. Small detail, but it added to the overall frustration. Overall, this was a disappointing experience—especially for a Cantonese food lover. Not worth the trip, and definitely not up to standard. 👎 Have you tried this spot? Would love to hear if others had a different experience! 🗣️ #DuluthEats #ChaChaanTeng #CantoneseFood #FoodFail #AtlantaFoodie #HongKongCafe #RoastMeat #RiceNoodles #FoodReview #NotRecommended #CantoneseCuisine #DiningDisappointment #AtlantaRestaurants
