A Road Trip Diary Through America's Midwest
This time, I embarked on a Midwest road trip with my little đˇ Bao (guinea pig), and our first stop was Oklahoma City (OKC), the capital of Oklahoma. With this cute little companion by my side, even the long stretches of the drive felt heartwarmingâno loneliness at all. My first impression of Oklahoma City was "incredibly livable." Home to nearly 700,000 people, the city is well-equipped with daily amenities: if youâre craving good food, thereâs a wide range of restaurants to choose from; if you love shopping, you can hunt for deals at the outlet malls; thereâs even a sizeable Chinese supermarket, making it easy to meet all your daily needs. Whatâs more reassuring is that the city has great public safety, with an overall cozy and stable vibeâperfect for long-term living. If youâre looking for a place to relax and take a stroll in OKC, OKC Lighthouse is one of the few iconic check-in spots. Itâs right by the lake, and summer here must be absolutely lovelyâwith a gentle breeze and lake views, itâs super (cozy)! But winter gets really windy, so the experience might be a bit less pleasant. When I visited, I saw many locals jogging đ and cycling đ´ by the lakeâsuch a lively, everyday scene. The biggest highlight of this trip was definitely the University of Oklahoma! I highly recommend visiting the schoolâs libraryâitâs so beautiful đ! Iâve been to quite a few universities in the American Midwest, and most of their libraries lean towards a modern style. But the University of Oklahomaâs library has a unique charm; itâs easily one of the best among Midwest college libraries. The atmosphere inside is quiet and cozy, making you want to stay there all day, fully immersed in reading or studying đ. I really fell in love with it! For accommodation, I stayed at Best Western Plus/Premium or Holiday Inn throughout the trip, and none of them disappointed. A lot of people complain about Best Western, but thatâs usually because they donât pick the right tierâregular Best Western might be just so-so, but the Plus or Premium lines are a whole different story. I stayed at several Best Western Plus and Premium locations this time, and I was satisfied with all of themâthey checked all my boxes for accommodation: clean rooms, enough space to move around, a comfortable stay, and a quiet environment đ¤Ť. While Plus/Premium costs a few dozen dollars more than regular Best Western, the comfort and satisfaction make every extra dollar worth it đ°. A road trip with my little đˇ Bao, a journey full of nice surprises in Oklahoma Cityâthereâs the warmth of city life, and the scholarly charm of the campus. This kind of "live" is exactly what real "life" should be â¤ď¸. #ItsLiveItsLife #RoadTrip #MidwestUSRoadTrip #UniversityOfOklahoma #Oklahoma #OklahomaState #OklahomaCity #GuineaPig #HotelRecommendations #USHotels #USHotelRecommendations #OklahomaUSfyyw
