A two-day trip to Atlanta ✨

Last mid-October, I flew into Atlanta for a short two-day visit before heading to the Great Smoky Mountains to see the fall foliage. It was still pretty warm back then—ideal leaf-peeping would be a bit later. You could even come in November to see beautiful autumn colors right in the city! I stayed at a hotel in Downtown, and felt the area was fairly safe. The hotel was super affordable—less than $100 a night—with huge rooms and breakfast included. Atlanta’s city center isn’t very large, and many attractions are within walking distance. 🏨 Downtown Hotel District The northeastern part of downtown is packed with hotels. Some have stunning interior designs—architecture fans should definitely take a look. My favorite was the Atlanta Marriott Marquis (see Pic 3). Many hotels are connected by sky bridges, making it very convenient to explore on foot. 🥤 World of Coca-Cola One of Atlanta’s most famous attractions. It displays Coca-Cola promotional materials from around the world. On the second floor, there are scheduled sessions where you can take photos with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear. You can take free selfies or purchase professional ones. The exhibit also covers the history and production process of Coke. The best part? The tasting room where you can sample unique beverages from different countries. The souvenir shop is amazing—I ended up spending $200 right away 😅💸 🐟 Georgia Aquarium Located right next to the Coca-Cola Museum, it’s known as one of the best aquariums. I didn’t have time to visit, but if you plan to see both, consider getting the Atlanta CityPASS for discounts. 🎡 Centennial Olympic Park / SkyView Atlanta A large park next to the two attractions, featuring a Ferris wheel nearby. On the other side is the College Football Hall of Fame—great for American football fans. 🏬 The Municipal Market A small market along Edgewood Avenue with fresh produce, groceries, and casual dining options. 🏛️ Martin Luther King Jr. Historical Park Dedicated to the iconic civil rights leader MLK Jr. The park includes his childhood home, a museum documenting his life, and facilities like a church and auditorium. The surrounding neighborhood appears a bit rundown, but I walked there around noon and felt safe. 🏬 Krog Street Market - Ponce City Market Further east, you’ll find this trendy area converted from an old factory—now full of restaurants and boutique shops, perfect for relaxing and shopping. You can stroll along the BeltLine greenway to another commercial area, Ponce City Market. The park is lively, and the surrounding neighborhoods are beautiful. 🏛️ Georgia State Capitol Free to enter. Quite spacious, with exhibits on Georgia’s natural and historical heritage on the top floor. 🏛️ High Museum of Art Accessible by metro. Mostly features modern and contemporary art—definitely worth a visit. #Atlanta #Georgia #Travel
