Alaska ❄️ | Anchorage Travel Guide 🎈 4 Days & 3 Nights

πŸš— Car Rental: Booked a car with snow tires in advance through Hertz πŸš™β›„, picked up at the airport. This rental allows drives to the Arctic Circle β€” unlike in Fairbanks where rentals didn’t permit it! 🏨 Accommodation: Stayed at Sheraton Anchorage Hotel downtown. The higher floors offer stunning views of the city surrounded by snow-capped mountains πŸ”οΈβœ¨. The facilities and breakfast were much better than the Marriott we stayed at in Fairbanks. Big city vibes for the win! 🐾 Activities: πŸ‘‰ Day 2: Visited the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center 🐻. Tickets can be bought online or on-site β€” not too crowded this season. The area is compact, and while there aren’t tons of animals, most species you’d want to see are there. Great for wildlife lovers! Then drove to Seward 🏘️, a small town better suited for summer visits. In summer, you can spot salmon in the creeks and watch fishing boats along the coast. In winter, it’s mostly snow-covered, and many restaurants are closed β€” but we saw sea lions! 🦭 πŸ‘‰ Day 3: Went glacier hiking at Matanuska 🧊πŸ₯Ύ. Booked directly via SMS on their official website and paid on-site β€” no third-party markup! No Chinese-speaking guides; all staff are local. The first half of the hike was warm, but it got cold after sunset β€” bring a hat or scarf! Gloves and waterproof shoes/pants are essential. (We skipped the blue ice cave β€” heard it collapsed and isn’t as impressive now. But the glacier hike itself offers similar icy views!) 🍽 Food: πŸ‘‰ 1st Meal: F Street Station ✈️🍻 Aviator-themed local bar β€” more about drinks than food. Crowded on weekend nights, so be prepared to wait. Their oysters and small squid were delicious πŸ˜‹! Don’t forget to drink! πŸ‘‰ 2nd Meal: Glacier Brewhouse πŸ¦€πŸΊ A trendy, aesthetically pleasing restaurant often recommended . The king crab legs were a bit salty (seems common here πŸ˜…). We didn’t finish much except the drinks β€” beer flights are a must-try! πŸ‘‰ 3rd Meal: MISO Japanese Sushi & Bar 🍣 Nothing special β€” decent but not memorable. And yes, we over-ordered again... (Didn’t try the popular pizza place β€” can’t imagine pizza being that extraordinary here lol) Next stop: Nome β€” the northernmost city in the US! 😎 #Alaska #Anchorage #GlacierHiking #ArcticCircle #TravelDiary
