Amaru 2026 Restaurant Week ❄️

Braving Chicago’s sub-zero temperatures, we bundled up and kicked off Restaurant Week with Amaru — a Latin fusion spot that’s been highly rated in the past! We went with the $60 prix-fixe menu (4 courses): First Course: Ceviche – The fish was just okay. Refreshing but didn’t wow in flavor 🌟🌟. Sope de Campo – A thick tortilla with shredded rabbit and chicken. Pretty good! 🌟🌟🌟. Second Course: Spanish Octopus – Tender and well-cooked. A pleasant surprise after so many overcooked octopus dishes elsewhere 🌟🌟🌟🌟. Piononos – Bacon-wrapped banana 🍌🥓. The banana’s sweetness cut through the bacon’s richness perfectly. Our favorite course! 🌟🌟🌟. Third Course (Mains): Pork Loin Churrasco & Cuban Oxtail – Unfortunately, both were disappointing 😩. The meats were tough, and the goat cheese in the oxtail ravioli was too gamey. The Lomo Steak at the next table looked much better though 🌟🌟. Fourth Course (Dessert): Chocolate Tres Leches & Sweet Corn Cake – Tasty but nothing extraordinary 🌟🌟🌟. Overall, an average experience. The restaurant was quite noisy with tables close together. If you’re curious about Latin fusion, it’s worth a try — but for me, once was enough. Not a place I’d revisit. #ChicagoRestaurantWeek #AmaruChicago #LatinFusion #WinterDining #FoodReview
