An Amazing Japanese Restaurant in Chicago

Wanted somewhere close for after-work dinner with a friend, and they recommended this spot! Super convenient for anyone in the Loop. Tonight’s Menu 🍲🍜🧂 📌 Sushi Set B Wow, every piece was incredibly fresh! Great for trying a bit of everything. The squid nigiri was the standout—sweet, soft, and tender. 📌 Yakitori Platter The skewers change based on daily availability. Must-try: Chicken skin—so fragrant and juicy, it bursts with flavor in your mouth! Surprise hit: Grilled shishito peppers—sweet and delicious. 📌 Tempura Platter All the tempura was above standard—crispy and aromatic. I actually preferred the lotus root and sweet potato over the shrimp! 📌 Wagyu Fried Rice Since Japanese portions can be small, we added Wagyu fried rice. Rich beef aroma, moist rice, and a mild flavor—very satisfying. 📌 Teriyaki Cod Highly recommended! Exceeded expectations—sweet glaze with tender, flaky fish. One bite and I felt pure happiness. 📌 Sake A glass of smooth, lightly fragrant sake to unwind after work 🍶. Key Details 🖋️📍 🍴 Restaurant: TenGoku Aburiya 📍 Address: 651 W Washington Blvd Suite #101A, Chicago, IL 60661 💰 Price: ~$70–80 per person Fun fact I heard from a friend: This Japanese restaurant is actually run by a Korean owner who trained in Hokkaido for over 10 years! 🇰🇷→🇯🇵 Perfect for chatting, light drinks, and smaller appetites. The sushi is seriously fresh! What other great Japanese spots in Chicago should I try?
