🌄 Aomori Travel
#Off-the-Beaten-Path Destination Aomori is truly a hidden gem, with plenty ofsurrounding the city. This note will list some popular spots, and I'll provide detailed introductions in subsequent notes. During winter, transportation in Aomori can be quite inconvenient with fewer bus schedules, so be sure to check the timetable in advance and plan your daily itinerary carefully. Recommended Attractions: Towada Art Center (1 day) My previous note, "Aomori's Most Popular Art Museum, Don't Miss It," has a detailed introduction. If you're interested, check out my profile to search for it. Even though transportation is not very convenient in winter, I highly recommend visiting this place. Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art (half a day) Designed by Jun Aoki, the museum mainly exhibits works by artists related to Aomori Prefecture, such as Yoshitomo Nara. If you're a fan of Nara, keep an eye on this place. Sannai Maruyama Ruins (half a day, can be arranged on the same day as the Prefectural Museum) A large-scale Jomon period site in Aomori City, part of the World Cultural Heritage, located next to the Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art, about a 5-minute walk away. Hirosaki (1 day) Once the largest city in Aomori, it's a place with history, worth taking the time to visit. Hakkoda Mountains (1 day) Known as the MINI version of "Zao Onsen," the scale of the ice trees is not as large as Zao, but it's quite spectacular. Some even think that visiting Hakkoda makes Zao unnecessary. It's also one of the skiing holy lands for enthusiasts. Tsugaru Stove Train (half a day) A special winter edition of the Tsugaru Railway, boarding the retro train 🚂 gives you a nostalgic feeling like you're back in your childhood. Fujisaki Swan Lake (half a day) Navigate from Aomori Fujisaki JR Station to the swan habitat, about a 20-minute walk. This is where swans 🦢 winter. With Mount Iwaki 🗻 in the background and the snow-covered fields reflecting the swans playing in the lake, it's quite dreamy. Most Beautiful Coastal Railway Line - Gono Line A railway connecting Aomori and Akita, running along the coast with breathtaking views! Aomori's winter snowscapes are no less than those of Hokkaido, and the place is off-the-beaten-path with affordable prices.
