Around Atlanta | Washington Farms | Strawberry Farm
đJust an hourâs drive from Atlanta, you can find a strawberry farm where you can enjoy taking photos and picking strawberries at the same time. As soon as you enter the farm, youâll smell the scent of burning straw, which reminds me of the old days in the countryside when people used to cook with firewood.đ„č đAfter purchasing your entry ticket, youâll first watch a short video in a small shed that explains the correct way to pick strawberries. Once youâve watched the video, you can get your bucket. Many people bring their own buckets from previous visits. Youâre not allowed to eat the strawberries while picking; you should only pick the ones youâre sure you want. Since strawberries are very delicate, and because it rained yesterday, a large portion of the strawberries have already started to rot due to the rainwater.đ„č đThe farm announced that they need to harvest all the strawberries before the next rain, so todayâs special offer is buy two buckets, get one free. That means you can take home three buckets! There are also fresh strawberries for sale, as well as strawberry donuts, strawberry milkshakes, and I highly recommend the strawberry ice creamâitâs not too sweet and you can actually taste the fruit pieces. After you check out, youâll receive two small cards with tips on how to extend the shelf life of your strawberries. This yearâs strawberry picking season runs from April 9th to May 24th, so if youâre planning to visit, donât delay!â đ Due to recent heavy rainfall, itâs a good idea to check the farmâs website for opening information or call ahead to avoid a wasted trip. The picking information for the next day is usually announced the night before. Washington Farmsâ 5691 Hog Mountain Rd, Bogart, GA 30622 â° Open Monday to Saturday. Check the website the day before for opening hours, as they may be adjusted according to the weather. Closed on Sundays. #Atlanta #AtlantaLife #AroundAtlanta #AtlantaPhotography
