Athens’ Island-Inspired Dining Featured in The New York Times
Due to a sudden rain, I searched for a Greek restaurant near the hotel. After scanning the photos and menu, which seemed to be my type, I went for it without hesitation. To my surprise, it was a restaurant highlighted and recommended in The New York Times’ “36 Hours in Athens” feature, with a cozy environment and beautifully presented dishes. 🌧️🍽️📰 Dish Reviews 📝 🍞 Trilogy + Homemade Bread: Three different specialty spreads paired with caviar, creating a delightful combination. I tasted flavors reminiscent of Greek yogurt, garlic, and caramelized onion potato puree. Ordering bread on the side was a perfect match. 🥐🧀 🥓 Spetzofai: Traditional Greek sausage served on crispy baguette, mixed with cheese and vegetables, baked to perfection. This dish exceeded my expectations. 🌭🔥 🍤 Couscous: A unique seafood risotto with chewy grains and fresh seafood like prawns, clams, and squid, brimming with island flair. 🦐🍚 🥘 Quail: Beautifully plated, the quail meat was tender and juicy. The combination of mushrooms and truffles was particularly satisfying. The main ingredient was wheat grain. 🦆🍄 🍊 Orange Pie: A sweet and tangy dessert with a delicate texture, paired with locally flavored Greek yogurt ice cream. It wasn’t too sweet, perfect for Asian tastes. 🍊🍨 The culinary inspiration comes from the specialty foods of Lakonian Mani, a southern Greek island.
