Calgary | Still Love It Even When Visiting in Winter

I happened to hit the warmest week in Calgary—around zero degrees Celsius🧊. When I got off the plane, it was cloudy, and the wind blew so hard it made my face cold🌬. But the next day, the sun came out and it warmed up. Overall, it wasn’t as cold as I imagined (I’d hoped to experience -20°C, so I was a little disappointed, haha). Snow in winter is so beautiful❄️, but since the temperature wasn’t low enough, the roadsides were all slushy and a bit dirty. If you’re traveling, I still recommend coming in summer—sunny days and green grass just put you in a better mood☀️. 🩵🩵🩵Recommended Attractions🩵🩵🩵 ▫️Calgary Tower Every city has one of these TV towers🗼. You can overlook the city and the surrounding Rockies, and there’s a revolving restaurant (I didn’t eat there). The intersection nearby is great for taking panoramic photos📸️. ▫️Wonderland Sculpture This landmark face sculpture is a check-in spot, but honestly, there’s not much to photograph😅. You can take a couple of tourist photos just for the sake of “having come”. ▫️Calgary Zoo Loved it! It’s a pretty big zoo. When I went in summer, I saw tons of animals—totally worth a visit. You can easily spend two or three hours there, and the penguin exhibit at the entrance is so cute. ▫️Contemporary Calgary An art gallery near downtown. It’s not big, very quiet, and has a theater—perfect for introverts to kill time. You can go if there’s an exhibition you’re interested in. ▫️Glenbow The museum I wanted to visit, but it’s temporarily closed for renovation. The official website says it’ll reopen in 2026. It has exhibits on Western culture and history—those visiting next year can check it out👀. 🛍️CF Chinook Centre Sneaking in a shoutout to my favorite shopping mall🏬. It’s really big and new, each store is spacious, and there aren’t many people—shopping there is such a nice experience. 🩵🩵🩵Nearby Trips🩵🩵🩵 ▫️Banff An outdoor paradise. In summer, you can explore lakes and hike; in winter, ski and soak in hot springs. I’d recommend visiting it separately—it’s beautiful in all four seasons. ▫️Drumheller & the Royal Tyrrell Museum A dinosaur town & dinosaur museum (you can see fossils and research studios), with lots of colorful cartoon dinosaur sculptures. People who love big cities might find Calgary boring, but I really like it. The downtown area isn’t big, but there’s a pedestrian street that’s lovely in summer🍃. All the attractions are within walking distance. I want to come back for the Stampede!🤠 Everyone I met was super friendly. The “white people food” is good, shopping tax is low, and there’s no tax on alcohol. It takes less than half an hour to get anywhere in the city. The only downside is I really didn’t find any good Chinese food😹. #Calgary #CanadaTravel #CalgaryTravel #WinterTravelPlans #WinterInTheNorth #Alberta #NewYearCityWalk #WinterVibes
