Carnivore Feast — Return to Asador Bastian 🥩

Couldn’t think of any exciting new Chicago restaurants for a friend’s birthday, so we defaulted to Asador Bastian — always a safe, delicious choice. 🥩 They still bring the day’s steak and seafood selection to the table, but my friend and I have tried them all — one second to pick Galician. 🥩 Beef tartare — elevated with foie gras cubes and black truffle, mixed and served on warm country bread. One bite shows the difference from ordinary tartare. 🥩 Today’s special: lobster scrambled eggs with foie gras and mushrooms. Au Cheval’s foie gras scramble is kindergarten level compared to this. Rich but not heavy — just creamy mushroom goodness. 🥩 Tortilla Española — the classic Spanish egg, potato, and onion omelette. Every place does it differently; theirs is solid. 🥩 Galician steak – Leaner than Wagyu but just as rich in flavor — that perfect balance where a bit more fat would be too much, a bit less would be dry. Served with pickled peppers to cut through the richness. 🥩 Salad – Our attempt to pretend we ate veggies. 🥩 Local melon with melon ice cream – Thought it’d be Shizuoka melon, but it’s Michigan-grown. Still delicious. Last pic: the always-perfect Basque cheesecake — melts in your mouth. Still Chicago’s best spot for meat lovers. Short menu, no misses. 📍 Asador Bastian 214 W Erie St, Chicago, IL 60654 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #Chicago #ExploreChicago #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats
