Charleston Food Guide Part 2: Pearlz Oyster Bar Review 🦪
We parked near the Pineapple Fountain – street parking was $3/hour and super convenient. Just a 3-minute walk to Pearlz Oyster Bar, a cozy spot perfect for seafood lovers craving fresh oysters and Lowcountry vibes. 🦪 Oysters – Raw & Baked We started with a half-dozen raw and a half-dozen baked. The raw oysters were a highlight – plump, sweet, and briny, served as a mix of three varieties. While I couldn’t tell the differences between them, they were all delicious. On repeat visits, I asked for the largest ones available! The baked oysters, however, were disappointing – shriveled and lacking that juicy, buttery texture. Not worth reordering. 🐙 Grilled Octopus Tender and nicely charred, but nothing extraordinary. A decent appetizer if you’re not in the mood for shellfish. 🐟 Fresh Catch Fish Platter We tried two types of fish, including monkfish – known as the "poor man’s lobster" for its firm, meaty texture. It was my first time trying it, and I loved its unique, slightly sweet flavor. The other fish was flaky and mild, perfectly grilled. 💸 Price Note At $42 per dozen, the oysters felt a bit steep – delicious, but more of a treat than a feast. If you’re really hungry, you might need to order more! 🍽️ Vibe & Service Pearlz has a laid-back, nautical atmosphere with friendly staff. It’s small and can get busy, so come early or be prepared to wait. Great for a quick bite during a downtown stroll. 📍 Location & Tips Park near Waterfront Park or Pineapple Fountain Perfect pre- or post-walk stop Ask for the largest oysters if you love them juicy and meaty! 🦞 Final Thoughts Pearlz is a solid choice for fresh raw oysters and simple seafood in the heart of Charleston. A bit pricey, but the quality and location make it worth a visit. #PearlzOysterBar #CharlestonEats #SeafoodLovers #OysterTime #HistoricDistrict #FoodieReview #LowcountryCuisine #FreshSeafood #DowntownCharleston
