Check-in: Michelin Two-Star Ever

Recently visited Ever, a two-Michelin-star restaurant in Chicago. The dishes were creative and tasty overall, and service was attentive. Here are the highlights I found most interesting: 1ļøāƒ£ Caviar with Cantaloupe – Paired with whipped lemon verbena. The flavors blended beautifully! 2ļøāƒ£ Chef's Signature Fish Dish – Fish flash-frozen with liquid nitrogen—unrecognizable as fish! Cool, creamy texture like ice cream, though the accompaniments were a bit salty. 5ļøāƒ£ Scallops with Coconut & Pumpkin – Fresh and light, highlighting the natural sweetness of the seafood. 6ļøāƒ£ Pork – Possibly the most flavorful and tender pork I’ve had in Western cuisine. 7ļøāƒ£ Wagyu with Peanut Sauce – Decent but a bit heavy toward the end. Desserts were creative and enjoyable: šŸŒ Banana Rice with tangy fruit jam—refreshing and balanced. šŸ•Æļø Edible Wax Tray – Beautifully crafted! 🌸 Favorite: Jasmine tea frozen shell filled with strawberry and chocolate—crack it open like a sorbet with fragrant tea notes! I did the beverage pairing, my husband did the wine pairing—he got tipsy before finishing šŸ˜… Update: Visited two Michelin spots this week—Ever and the renowned Alinea. Didn’t plan to focus on service, but after both experiences, my husband and I agreed: Ever’s service was far superior! Alinea met Michelin standards, but Ever’s service and ambiance won our hearts: ✨ Every server knew our names and that we were celebrating our anniversary. ✨ Escorted to and from the restroom (a bit awkward but thoughtful). ✨ Impeccable table care—not a crumb in sight. ✨ Spacious seating with privacy and quiet—perfect for conversation. In contrast, Alinea felt noisy and crowded, tables too close, sauce drips left uncleaned… Not the fine-dining vibe we imagined.
