Here’s a Latin American spot in Wicker Park offering two Restaurant Week menus: $60 (4 courses) and $45 (3 courses + choice of dessert). We went with the $45 menu. ➕ À la carte add-ons we tried: 🍌 Piononos – Plantain rolls stuffed with Spanish chorizo, wrapped in crispy bacon. Sweet, savory, and deeply satisfying. 🥥 Coconut Fried Rice – Malaysian-inspired, fragrant with coconut milk — my favorite dish of the night! 1️⃣ First Course (choose 1) 🐟 Ceviche del Dia – Classic Latin ceviche, fresh and zesty. Fish varies by season — highly recommended! 🥔 Ecuadorian Llapingacho – Sweet potato patties, almost dessert-like. Balanced by savory meat sauce. 🥗 Ensalada Invierno – Beautifully plated winter salad, but flavor-wise, just okay. 2️⃣ Second Course (choose 1) 🐂 Cuban Oxtail – Tender, falling-off-the-bone oxtail in rich sauce (a bit salty). Served with aromatic goat cheese dumplings. 🐖 Boliche – Puerto Rican-style braised pork loin — well-seasoned but slightly overcooked. 🍰 Jollof Lentil Cake – Sweet plantain cake, texture a bit coarse. Served with mild amaranth green curry — not my top pick. 3️⃣ Third Course (choose 1) 🌽 Pastel de Elote – Sweet corn cake, moist and not too heavy — like a delicate tamale dessert. 🍮 Crema Catalana – Similar to crème brûlée, creamy and smooth but very sweet. 💬 Verdict: Solid Latin fusion with standout dishes like the coconut rice and piononos.
