๐ŸŒŸ Check-in at 100 Chicago Restaurants โ€“ No. 24 | Amaru

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Amaru ๐Ÿ“ Cuisine: Latin American ๐Ÿ“ Address: 1904 W North Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 ๐Ÿ’ฐ Price Range: $50 โ€“ $100 per person Chicago Restaurant Week ends this weekend! Hereโ€™s a Latin American spot in Wicker Park offering two Restaurant Week menus: $60 (4 courses) and $45 (3 courses + choice of dessert). We went with the $45 menu. โž• ร€ la carte add-ons we tried: ๐ŸŒ Piononos โ€“ Plantain rolls stuffed with Spanish chorizo, wrapped in crispy bacon. Sweet, savory, and deeply satisfying. ๐Ÿฅฅ Coconut Fried Rice โ€“ Malaysian-inspired, fragrant with coconut milk โ€” my favorite dish of the night! 1๏ธโƒฃ First Course (choose 1) ๐ŸŸ Ceviche del Dia โ€“ Classic Latin ceviche, fresh and zesty. Fish varies by season โ€” highly recommended! ๐Ÿฅ” Ecuadorian Llapingacho โ€“ Sweet potato patties, almost dessert-like. Balanced by savory meat sauce. ๐Ÿฅ— Ensalada Invierno โ€“ Beautifully plated winter salad, but flavor-wise, just okay. 2๏ธโƒฃ Second Course (choose 1) ๐Ÿ‚ Cuban Oxtail โ€“ Tender, falling-off-the-bone oxtail in rich sauce (a bit salty). Served with aromatic goat cheese dumplings. ๐Ÿ– Boliche โ€“ Puerto Rican-style braised pork loin โ€” well-seasoned but slightly overcooked. ๐Ÿฐ Jollof Lentil Cake โ€“ Sweet plantain cake, texture a bit coarse. Served with mild amaranth green curry โ€” not my top pick. 3๏ธโƒฃ Third Course (choose 1) ๐ŸŒฝ Pastel de Elote โ€“ Sweet corn cake, moist and not too heavy โ€” like a delicate tamale dessert. ๐Ÿฎ Crema Catalana โ€“ Similar to crรจme brรปlรฉe, creamy and smooth but very sweet. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Verdict: Solid Latin fusion with standout dishes like the coconut rice and piononos. Worth a try before Restaurant Week wraps up! #ChicagoEats #RestaurantWeek #AmaruChicago #LatinFood #WickerPark #ChicagoFoodie
