Chez Joël — French Restaurant in Chicago 🇫🇷🍽️
After spotting this French spot with decent Google reviews, I rounded up my girlfriends for a visit. Overall, it was a bit disappointing 😔. While the prices were reasonable and portions generous, the main courses leaned too salty, and as one friend put it — “left us feeling a bit heavy.” We started with pumpkin soup (the special of the day), which was probably the highlight of the night — incredibly smooth and delicious! 🎃✨ For appetizers, we had escargot and frog legs — both were tasty, especially with the bread for dipping. 🐌🍞 But the mains — lamb chops and scallops — were noticeably salty 🧂. We also ordered a bottle of wine, but the server wasn’t very familiar with the wine list. Atmosphere-wise, it’s actually quite nice for a date — dim lighting, cozy, and popular among locals. Valet parking is available at the entrance 🚗💨. So if you're looking for a romantic vibe, it could work. But if you're out with friends hoping for amazing food — maybe try somewhere else. From me, it’s a 3/5 at most. #ChezJoël #ChicagoFrenchFood #FrenchRestaurant #ChicagoEats #DateNightSpot #FoodReview
