Chicago’s Best Jokbal — Jokbal Night Market 🐖
After seeing a recommendation on social media, I was immediately intrigued by this spot inspired by Korea’s famous Hongdae night market — and it’s super close to where I live! So I took my parents over the weekend to try their legendary pork trotters. 🚗💨 🐷 Jokbal Set – Original braised pork trotters + giant bowl of buckwheat cold noodles. This is hands down the best jokbal I’ve had in Chicago — and I don’t say that lightly! The pork is tender, juicy, and gelatinous without being greasy, with no odd odors at all. Just aromatic roasted flavor and a hint of sesame. Even the lean parts are moist and flavorful. Note: The set only comes with the original flavor, but you can order half-original, half-spicy if you dine à la carte. Definitely trying that next time! 🍜 Buckwheat Noodles with Veggies – Served with a slightly sweet-spicy sauce. Mix it all up yourself! A refreshing side that balances the richness of the pork — though honestly, the jokbal wasn’t heavy at all to me! 🍙 Seaweed Rice Balls with Flying Fish Roe – Seafood lovers will enjoy these, though there’s a noticeable MSG kick. 🥣 Beef Soup with King Oyster Mushrooms – Generous portion with thick, meaty mushroom slices that complement the beef perfectly without overpowering it. 🍕 Kimchi Pancake – Huge and served crispy-hot! It came out a bit late, but my mom couldn’t resist having a few extra slices — she said it was wonderfully crunchy and fragrant. 🏮 Service & Vibe – Even though they just opened, everything ran smoothly. The staff was super attentive — when they saw my parents struggling with the English menu, they kindly brought over a Chinese menu. Such a thoughtful touch that made our visit even better! 🥰 📍 Jokbal Night Market & Muchung Gamjatang Glenview 3580 Milwaukee Ave, Northbrook, IL 60062 #JokbalNightMarket #ChicagoKoreanFood #BestJokbal #PorkTrotters #ChicagoEats
