Chicago’s Deep-Dish Pizza God — Milly’s 🍕👑
After some disappointing deep-dish experiences, I’d decided not to eat it again unless out-of-town friends insisted. Then, on Halloween after picking up chocolate at Sugoi Sweets, I somehow ended up at Milly’s Pizza In The Pan with my parents. Walked in, and the staff asked: “Do you have an online reservation?” Me: “No.” Them: “Sorry, we’re sold out.” Sold out⁉️ It’s 5:20 PM on a Saturday and a pizza place is sold out?? I was baffled… and stubborn. I had to try it. Next day, planning ahead, I went online around 1 PM to order for dinner pickup. Website said: sold out. They even kindly noted: “We only make a limited amount of dough daily. Reservations open at 8 AM.” Oh. A week later, weekend again — I set my alarm for 8 AM sharp. Phone checkout glitched, switched to laptop… sold out again. The day after that, laptop ready, alarm set — but city location sold out in minutes. Luckily, the suburb location still had slots, so I drove out for pickup. After all that hassle — totally worth it. This is hands-down the #1 deep-dish pizza in Chicago. First bite and I was convinced. Crust is crispy, cheesy-edged. Fillings are flavorful but not overly salty. Reminds me of Pequod’s glory days before it went viral. Perfectly crisped pepperoni cups, sausage soaked in sauce — carnivore heaven. Basil blended into green sauce instead of whole leaves, ricotta sweetness balanced with chili heat. Everything wrapped in melted cheese — the whole pizza is one big delicious surprise.👍😍 While waiting, a staff member kindly gave me a drink. I asked: “How many pizzas do you make a day?” Answer: 75 at the suburb location, 100 downtown — no wonder it sells out instantly. Milly’s totally changed my mind about deep-dish. Will definitely return. Fun fact: Same owner as ZaZa’s — so whether you like thick or thin crust, they’ve got you covered 😄 📍 Milly's Pizza In The Pan 925 N Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60622 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ExploreChicago #ChicagoEats #DeepDishPizza
