Chicago’s Exquisite Jade Museum

After grabbing some crawfish rice nearby, I discovered a museum I’d never heard of — and it’s entirely dedicated to jade and lapidary art! I was instantly intrigued, but it was already closed. So I made a special trip back with my parents over the weekend — and it was absolutely worth it! 🏛️👨‍👩‍👧 🌿 Petrified Wood Display – Right outside the entrance, a stunning open-air exhibit of petrified wood sets the tone. Inside, a wall-sized plant fossil greets you — impressive from the get-go! 💎 Diverse Jade & Stone Art – The collection is incredibly varied: from traditional vases and religious figures to playful, modern pieces like this abstract “breakfast plate” carving. I also saw ammolite for the first time — a dazzling iridescent stone found only in a few mines in Alberta, Canada. Absolutely mesmerizing! ⚖️ Historical & Rare Pieces – Some exhibits, like helmet crests and intricate ivory puzzle balls, are artifacts rarely seen today, even in China — culturally rich and fascinating. 📘 Final Thoughts – An outstanding museum with high-quality exhibits, educational value, and affordable admission.
