Chicago’s Last Hope for Korean BBQ — Chicago Kalbi 🥩
After being let down by another longtime favorite, I had doubts about my go-to spot for charcoal-grilled Korean BBQ. Took my parents to Chicago Kalbi to see if it still held up — and happily, it does. 🫓 Kimchi Pancake with Fresh Veggies – Actually loaded with greens, not just kimchi — so many places skimp on vegetables. 🥗 Asian Ginger Salad – Lightly dressed with ginger vinaigrette — fine, but not memorable. 🧈 Kimchi-Marinated Tofu – Tangy and flavorful — a solid start. 🦪 Oyster Omelette – Always a favorite. Eggy, briny, and not greasy — no thick batter here. 🥦 Veggie Platter – Root vegetables for grilling on the grill edges — a nice, wholesome addition. 👅 Jo-Tongue (Premium Beef Tongue) – Softer and richer than regular tongue — tender and deeply savory. 🥩 Japanese-Style Short Rib (Unmarinated) – Pure, beefy flavor — quality meat speaks for itself. 🍯 Sesame Oil-Marinated Short Rib – Fragrant but not oily — the fat renders beautifully over charcoal. 🍖 Classic Galbi (Marinated Ribs) – Sweet, soy-glazed, grilled and snipped tableside. My favorite part? The chewy bits clinging to the bone. Verdict: Still safe — the only top-tier Korean BBQ in Chicago that hasn’t lost its touch on flavor or freshness. 📍 Chicago Kalbi 3752 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60625 #ChicagoKalbi #KoreanBBQ #CharcoalGrill #ChicagoEats #KoreanFood #BBQLovers #FamilyMeal
