Chicago’s New Steakhouse Obsession — Trino 🥩✨
Komo, which I once complained about, has finally closed — replaced by Trino, a new steakhouse from chef Stephen Sandoval (of Entre Sueños / Diego). It’s described as Argentine × Spanish × Northern Mexican × Chicago style — sounds like a lot, but it became a recent favorite of mine. 🦪 Seasoned oysters topped with cheese, torched tableside. Loved it (though my friend preferred the plain version in pic 5). 🍞 Hawaiian bread – Soft, sweet, fragrant. Wanted to try the fried focaccia with burrata, but it had coriander seeds — too risky for me. 🥑 Crab & dill tostada with pistachio sauce, pear, and chili — color, flavor, and crunch all worked together beautifully. 🦐 Oyster duo + shrimp cocktail – Shrimp felt ordinary next to the oysters. 🐙 Grilled octopus with potatoes – Octopus tender, potatoes creamy. 🥩 Picanha "Prime Rib" – The night’s biggest surprise. Picanha (top sirloin cap) is rich with fat cap + lean meat — here roasted like prime rib but more flavorful and tender — instant love. 🥩 Dry-aged ribeye with mushrooms – Ordered medium rare, came overdone. Sent back and the second try was perfect. Good, but overshadowed by the amazing picanha. 🍰 Dessert trio – Baked peach with Basque cake mousse / triple chocolate cake / tres leches tiramisu. All pretty sweet — choose based on your preference. The restaurant carries the same polished vibe as the chef’s other spots — quality and flavor are consistent. Prices are fair for this level. Definitely returning. They also hide a speakeasy bar inside with limited nightly seating — could be a nice after-dinner date spot. 📍 Trino Steakhouse 738 W Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60661 #SummerFoodieCat 🐱 #Chicago #ChicagoLife #ExploreChicago #ChicagoEats
