Chicago’s Perfect Date-Night Bar — The Meadowlark 🐦

Recently visited The Meadowlark in Logan Square, which opened this October — and I was charmed from the first visit! The same team behind Lardon / Union created this spot. It’s in the same building but has a hidden entrance — very speakeasy-esque. Walk through the hallway into a vintage-inspired space with mostly cozy couch seating and books as decor — feels like stepping into a scholar’s living room. The coolest part? The menu is styled like a bird-watching field guide 🦜📘, with each cocktail named after a bird species. Here’s what we tried: 🐦 Snowy Owl – Caravedo Pisco Puro Quebranta blended with chocolate liqueur, house-made orgeat, nutmeg, and anise. Sweet, almost like eggnog. 🐦 Woodpecker – A gin blend with floral and fruity notes. Got a bit diluted as the ice melted. 🐦 Chicago Pigeon – Gin with smoked vermouth, citrus, Earl Grey tea, and egg white. Sweet and tangy — comes with an extra sidecar. 🐦 Blue Green Warbler – Non-alcoholic option made with Seedlip, lime, cucumber, mint, and rosewater. Refreshing, though flavor was predictable for a mocktail. 🐦 Grilled Chicken Heart Skewers – Chicken hearts separated by grilled pineapple and scallion, brushed with Scotch bonnet smoked sauce. Spicy and salty — great with drinks. The bar has a relaxed, intimate vibe — not too loud, perfect for dates. Food options are limited, so I’d recommend eating at a nearby restaurant first, then coming for drinks. 📍 The Meadowlark 2812 W Palmer St, Chicago, IL 60647 #DateNight #ChicagoBars #TheMeadowlark #Speakeasy #CocktailMenu #BirdThemed
