Chicago’s Surprising Vietnamese Fusion Cuisine
😍Chicago’s Surprising Vietnamese Fusion Cuisine My teammate suggested we try some Vietnamese fusion food. I thought it would be some hole-in-the-wall place, but it turned out to be a French-Vietnamese restaurant with a dress code, nestled between HW and Graff. I didn’t have high expectations for the food. 😍Green Shrimp Curry: The first bite was underwhelming and a bit bland. But it grew on me as I ate more, though it wasn’t outstanding. 😍Sesame Beef Ravioli and Seafood Ceviche: The ravioli looked a bit messy, but the first bite was amazing. The refreshing cucumber shreds, paired with the rich basil flavor and the sweet-salty beef in the wonton skin, were simply perfect. This dish immediately changed my low expectations for the restaurant. The ceviche had a generous portion with fresh shrimp and scallops, served with guacamole and a mango-like sauce. It was very refreshing. Pho: Delicious. The beef was incredibly tender. 😍Shaking Beef: This dish was incredible. The stir-fried filet mignon, served with some greens, was tender, with a rich caramelized flavor and a distinct Vietnamese touch (fish sauce?). I highly recommend this dish. 😍We spent $160 for two people without drinks. I’d rate it 9.3/10 and definitely plan to come back. The restaurant is called Le Colonial. Reservations are recommended, as it was packed on a Saturday noon. Remember to follow the dress code. #Chicago #LifeInNorthAmerica #Food #NorthAmerica #StudentEating
