Chicago|🌟 Michelin-Starred Topolobampo|🇲🇽 Mexican-Style

Hey there~ A few weeks ago, my husband and I checked out another Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant in Chicago, and I’m finally getting around to sharing the experience! 😝 When you arrive, you’re first seated in a waiting area with appetizers and drinks. My husband ordered a seasonal special cocktail and loved it. I had a mocktail (forgot the name!). He tried the oysters — said they were super fresh and delicious 🦪, while my pregnant version was swapped for chips and guac 🥲. 🍽️ Pinata Stall 🪅 Whimsical and playful — looks like a colorful cookie! You tap the thin top layer with a spoon to reveal the ingredients underneath. The regular version has raw fish, mine was mango and avocado 🥑 (pregnancy-friendly). Simple but tasty! Fun fact: In Mexico, a piñata is a decorated container filled with candy — kids hit it with a stick until it breaks open. A sweet tradition! 🍽️ Chicharron Prensado Stall My favorite dish 😍! If you love rich, tender meat, you’ll adore this. On its own it might be rich, but wrapped in a taco? Absolutely heavenly 🤤 — crispy pork skin and melt-in-your-mouth pork belly in every bite. So good! 🍽️ Wild Mushroom Stall A wild mushroom party 🍄! Featuring morels in a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with black truffle slices for extra depth. Very earthy and mushroom-forward — I found it a bit heavy toward the end. 🍽️ Mole Stall Mole is a traditional Mexican sauce — here made with 32 ingredients. We both felt it had a strong herbal, almost medicinal taste — not really our thing. The protein was chicken shaped like sausage — tender but… why do so many fine dining spots have similar dishes? 🤨 🍽️ Cheese Stall A delicious cheesecake with a slightly crisp base, soft and creamy inside, served with crispy cheese crisps. Different textures that worked beautifully together — loved it! 🧀✨ 🍽️ Botanica A chocolate lover’s dream 😜 — combining various chocolate elements, balanced with herb syrup to cut the sweetness and add complexity. Overall: A highly interactive and educational meal! My husband loves asking questions, so we learned a lot about Mexican culture 👍. Total for two: $700+ — not the most budget-friendly, but definitely a memorable experience! #ChicagoEats #MichelinStar #Topolobampo #MexicanCuisine #FineDining #DateNightChicago
