Chicago|Chef Shang JM Seafood
A Cantonese spot in Chinatown — as someone from Guangzhou, eating here really hit me right in the feels 😭 💰 ~$90 per person 1️⃣ Lobster with Sticky Rice The lobster was way fresher than what you’d get at most Western restaurants — every piece was juicy and coated in sauce. The sticky rice underneath had lap cheong (Chinese sausage) and dried shrimp — SO fragrant. We only ordered the single-lobster version, but two girls still couldn’t finish it (portion is no joke — proof in the pic). 2️⃣ Plum Duck Haven’t really seen anyone recommend this — kinda小众. But I’m putting it out there: it’s really good! Sweet and sour plum sauce, not greasy at all. Pairs perfectly with the sticky rice — super satisfying. 3️⃣ Garlic Sweet Potato Leaves Tastes like home. 4️⃣ Soup (Fig & Dendrobium / Fig & Snow Pear) Both were excellent — not loaded with MSG or salt! Just naturally sweet.💕😍 Again — tastes like home. Bonus: we grabbed two drinks from next door — Jasmine Milk 🥤 Recommend: matcha jasmine salted cheese latte — drink it with the wide straw! No reservations. We went Saturday at 12 PM and didn’t wait. By 12:40, there was a long line outside — go early!! #ChicagoEats #CantoneseFood #LobsterRice #HomeyFlavors #ChinatownChicago 🦞
