Chicago|Filipino Kamayan Feast – A Hands-On Food Experience! 🍚
Tried the Kamayan Fest at Kubo Chicago tonight — a traditional Filipino feast where all the food is spread over banana leaves and eaten with your hands! 😋🍃 The amount of food was HUGE… and included fried fish, grilled ribs, shrimp, fried oysters, sautéed pork, tuna salad, fried chicken, plus rice, fruits, and veggies. Everything is served in individual portions in front of each guest — you just focus on your own delicious spread! The owner mentioned they’ve served over a hundred of these feasts, and only one group of six guys finished everything — everyone else took leftovers home! 🍱😅 My favorites were the sizzling pork sisig (so flavorful!) and the shrimp paste green beans 🤤 — both stood out. The rest were mostly fried items, good but not mind-blowing, and some leaned a bit tangy. Dipping sauces helped a lot! 👐 Tip from the owner: Eating with gloves takes away from the experience — better to use your hands! If you’re not into that, he suggests eating the oysters first and using the shells as spoons for the rest — clever hack! 📞 Reservations need to be made at least 2 days in advance by phone. Once you arrive, they’ll need a few minutes to set up your banana leaf spread. 💰 Price: $79 per person, with 20% gratuity automatically included. 🅿️ Parking is street-only — don’t park in the neighboring lot (they tow!). #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #FilipinoFood #Kamayan #HandsOnDining #FoodExperience
