Chicago|MingHin Cuisine — Cantonese Dim Sum 🥢
Before moving to Chicago, I asked a long-time local friend for restaurant recommendations — she instantly said MingHin. As someone who’s never been super into dim sum (and with plenty of Cantonese spots in the Bay Area), I wondered — how good could it really be? Well, reality hit hard — I ended up going three times in four days during my Chicago trip 😂. My flight landed at 5 AM — cold and hungry, I craved something warm. Luckily, there was a MingHin near my hotel — perfect timing! (Note: everyone calls it MingHin, but the sign outside looks like it says — maybe a font thing? Still MingHin to locals!) Over my visits, I ordered: 🦐 Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) 🥟 Siu Mai (pork & shrimp dumplings) 🥟 Chive dumplings 🍲 Wonton soup (warm broth craving!) 🍖 Sweet & sour spare ribs 🥬 Blanched Chinese broccoli (gotta have greens!) 🌟 Golden lava custard buns — THE STAR! The dumplings were solid — comparable to good Bay Area dim sum. But the golden lava custard buns?? INSANELY DELICIOUS! I ordered them every time — even took leftovers back to the hotel, and they were still amazing cold! Honestly, these buns alone are worth visiting MingHin for. #ChicagoEats #MingHin #DimSum #CantoneseFood #GoldenBuns #ComfortFood #ChicagoFoodie
