Chicago|Tao Chicago – Chinese Restaurant 🏮
Definitely another trendy spot — I was drawn in by some buzz online and wanted to join the hype! This is American-style Chinese food, offering various Asian-American dishes like General Tso’s chicken and orange chicken… the kind of heavy, bold flavors that Westerners love 😅. The atmosphere is upscale with lots of Eastern-inspired decor and a mysterious, moody vibe. The visual experience is definitely part of the appeal ✨👀. There’s no strict dress code, but I showed up in a T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers 😂 — only to notice others dressed much more formally. Awkward 🥲. 🥟 Dim Sum Dumpling Platter – The presentation was beautiful, but it’s pricey 💸. 🍪 Giant Fortune Cookie dessert — the iconic ending to an American Chinese meal. For me, it was just a photo op 📸. As for the other dishes… all I remember is them being salty and heavy. Once I accepted I was really there for the ambiance, it felt a bit better 😌. At night, the place turns into a nightclub — didn’t realize that beforehand, so I missed out on that experience 🎶. #ChicagoEats #DimSum #FortuneCookie #ChicagoNightlife #AsianFusion #AmbienceOverFood
