Chicago|The Internet-Declared Best "Bad Butter" 🥐✨
The "best" title is given by netizens—I’d say it’s pretty good, top-tier in Chicago, but still far from Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai pastry standards 😅 I’m quite picky about pastries, especially laminated dough quality. (Prices in the last pic.) Most Recommended (Will Buy Again) 🍞 Seeded Multigrain Tin Loaf – The best toast in Chicago in my book! Hard to get—had to set an alarm. Slight sourdough tang (heat it if you don’t like sourness). Stays tender for days, loaded with nuts/seeds—super fragrant! 🥐 Lemon Lavender Kouign Amann – The only one with decent lamination here. Refreshing lemon-lavender filling—will repurchase. Just Okay Ube Canelé – Too sweet. Other croissants/Danish pastries – Lamination not up to my standard (Chicago’s lamination game is weak… or maybe China’s is just too strong). Other Chicago spots: Kasama – Occasionally great lamination but inconsistent. Obelix – Excellent fillings, lamination so-so. S.K.Y. – Passable lamination & fillings, but not memorable. #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #StudentEats #CroissantLove #BreadLover 🥖🔥
