Chicago๏ฝœWhen Friends Visit from Afar, Itโ€™s Time for Good Food ๐Ÿฃ

๐Ÿ“ Ryota 1131 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60607 My college friend visited Chicago this weekend and specifically wanted Japanese food โ€” perfect chance to try this spot recommended by another friend! ๐Ÿฑ Ryota Premium Set ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ซ Wanted this after seeing reviews โ€” salmon roe + uni + otoro in one bowl is hard to mess up. At market price ($97), the box was smaller than expected, but the sashimi portions were decent. Good for 2โ€“3 people to share. The vinegared rice was well-balanced, though the uni couldโ€™ve been sweeter. Worth trying once, but for value I might still prefer Ikigaiโ€™s Toro Tartare Donburi. ๐Ÿฃ Sashimi Selection Set ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ 7 types of chefโ€™s choice sashimi โ€” cuts were average in size and thickness. Server didnโ€™t explain what was included, but looked like salmon, akami, chutoro, snapper, scallop, halibut, and yellowtail. Good deal if you love raw fish โ€” better value than ordering individually. ๐Ÿค Shrimp Tempura ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ Fine, not too heavily battered, but dipping sauce was a bit salty. ๐Ÿ— Chicken Karaage ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ One of the better Japanese fried chicken Iโ€™ve had at a sushi spot โ€” light, crispy coating, juicy inside, not greasy. ๐Ÿ’ก Summary: A Japanese restaurant where you can spend a little or a lot. If you skip sashimi and stick to appetizers, hand rolls, and ramen, ~$50/person. But if youโ€™re a sashimi lover, expect to double that. Food quality and presentation are solid โ€” service was just okay. Not a regular spot, but Iโ€™d consider coming back. #Sushi #Sashimi #Chirashi #JapaneseFood #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodFinds
