Chicago's Hottest New Coffee Spot — Milli by Metric ☕️🌟
Before they moved, Metric was one of the closest coffee shops to my home, so it naturally became my go-to spot for my morning caffeine fix 💪🌞. I recently heard they opened an all-day café, and the pastry chef is the former head baker from Obelix—so it quickly became the talk of the town! Of course, I had to grab a friend and check it out ASAP 👯♀️💖. ☕️ We tried the eclair, garlic twist, and canelé. I can’t quite remember what the eclair was exactly, but what stood out the most was the strong rosemary flavor in every bite 🌿😋. The garlic twist was loaded with scallions and garlic—definitely a bold savory pastry 😂. The canelé was probably the least memorable of the three, especially since I had Margie's mochi version earlier that day—this one just didn’t compare. ☕️ We also had the peach cross laminated bun—maybe a seasonal special? 🍑✨ The top layer was cream, and the bottom was jam made from ripe peaches. It tasted like summer in every bite! ☕️ Then there was the Blue Lagoon drink—a mix of matcha, blueberry lemon soda, and coconut sparkling water. Honestly, the flavors didn’t quite come together 😅… maybe blueberry and matcha just aren’t meant to be married! 💔 ☕️ I also sampled the Colombia Nelson Chaves Natural pour-over, which supposedly had notes of strawberry jam, Syrah grape, and ganache. As someone who’s not a fan of bitterness, I quickly added some half-and-half 😂—and loved it even more! ☕️ We went at 10 AM on a weekend. The space inside is pretty spacious, but the staff moved a bit slowly—we waited about 30 minutes to get in. Still, that’s not too bad compared to other trendy spots! All the pastries are displayed right at the counter, so you can just point and order 🥐👀. While nothing was mind-blowing, everything was tasty and satisfying. The owner shared that they want this to be a warm, interactive neighborhood café—and I’d say they’ve definitely succeeded! 👏🏡 There were moms with kids, groups of friends, and plenty of seating so everyone could relax and enjoy a slow weekend morning. It really does feel like the coffee shop next door 💛. Milli by Metric: 3110 N Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60618 Have you been to Milli by Metric yet?
