Chicago | Brunch Turned Afternoon Tea — Abrah Bakery 🥐☕
I'd heard about Chicago's beloved Ukrainian café Soloway for ages but never got around to visiting. Recently, I discovered they opened a sister bakery, Abrah Bakery, and after seeing their adorable brunch tower all over IG, I knew I had to try it—so I dragged a new friend along for the adventure! ☕️ The brunch tower gives major afternoon tea vibes but with way more substance. The bottom tier features avocado & smoked salmon toast (supposedly with caviar, but I didn’t spot any) and scrambled eggs with cream cheese toast—both insanely delicious and HUGE portions! The middle tier holds slow-braised beef with capers, while the top tier is a matcha-raspberry macaron. I was shocked by how good the macaron was—rich matcha cream hugging a tart raspberry center, like a fancy upgrade from White Lover cookies. ☕️ The Night Bloom is more of a coffee-infused drink than straight coffee. It blends berries, citrus, pomegranate, and just a hint of coffee, balancing bitterness with floral sweetness. My friend got the Cocoa Wave, with cocoa foam on top and coconut water underneath—refreshing and unique! ☕️ The kimchi Danish and egg tart were surprisingly fun. The tart follows classic Portuguese style but isn’t overly sweet. The kimchi Danish? A weird-but-works sweet-salty combo—unexpectedly addictive. ☕️ Skip the apricot croissant—the glaze was way too sugary. ☕️ The honey cake? HEAVENLY. It’s a twist on traditional Ukrainian medovik, with clearer layers of honey and cream. Classic versions often use buckwheat honey (for that amber color), but here, they sprinkle toasted buckwheat on top—a nod to tradition with a fresh spin. Fair warning: It’s rich, so pair it with coffee! The space is tiny but charming—grab pastries and drinks up front to-go, or snag a seat in the cozy back dining area. Reservations are a must (it’s always packed!), and it’s pretty loud—great for catching up with friends, not for a quiet date. 📍 Abrah Bakery and Daily Bistro 2269 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago, IL 60614 #SummerFoodie #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #ChicagoLife #GlobalFoodieAdventures #BrunchGoals #CoffeeLover #EatAllTheThings
