Chicago | First Time at Asador Bastian

On a whim after New Year’s, I checked AB’s bookings online — nothing for two until February. Not giving up, I called and scored a Friday night table right away 🎉 In short: the chef’s steak-grilling skills are otherworldly — bringing out the absolute best in fat and flavor. But the seafood? Not so much 😅 When it comes to beef, their steak is truly #1 in my book — the best medium-rare I’ve had in the last decade. Perfect cook, seasoning, and quality — all 💯 (if only it weren’t so pricey… but that’s my wallet’s fault). We ordered the fresh fish of the day and grilled shrimp — hmm, regretted the fish. This isn’t the place for seafood. The shrimp were okay, just not worth the price. Next time I’d try the octopus. Dessert highlight: the pistachio brittle — not too sweet, packed with nutty aroma. Bonus: ambiance and vibe were excellent. The server walked us through the day’s specials in detail — a nice touch. #OasisInAFoodDesert #Chicago #ChicagoEats #ChicagoDining 🥩
