Chicago | Italian Restaurant Roundup š®š¹
Somehow this trip turned into an Italian food tour ā but every spot was unique and tasty! šāØ š“ Volare Ristorante Italiano A popular Italian spot ā got a same-day reservation. š¦ Spicy fried calamari was a bit heavy. š¤ Squid ink pasta and tiramisu were the stars! Tried tiramisu at several places, but this was the best: two layers of ladyfingers, not overly soaked, nice coffee bitterness ā perfectly balanced and delicious. š“ Sofi Restaurant Easy to book, no disappointments. š„ First time trying ravioli ā loved it! Creamy sauce clung well, pasta cooked just right. š„ Seafood risotto was also great. š° Only downside: both desserts fell short. Tiramisu cream was too soft, cookies mushy, overly sweet without coffee bitterness. Cheesecake was crumbly and lacked cheese flavor. š“ Eataly A cool Italian market-restaurant hybrid ā half grocery, half dining. š§ Lots of Italian sauces, pasta, wine, etc. š Pizza was wood-fired, thin and crisp, paired with fresh burrata ā light and fresh. š Pastas had a firmer bite (al dente style). šØ Tiramisu was tasty but could use more layers. Gelato was yummy. š® Another mousse with apricot sauce ā flavors competed, so just okay. #TravelFoodDiary #ChicagoEats #ItalianFood #FoodieTravel š„
